Fus Ro DONE!

Thursday, December 22nd, 2011

Yaay, after 135 hours I am finally all finished the achievements in Skyrim! The last thing I needed to finish up was getting to level 50 so I leveled some of those skills I never used, like block! It’s so nice when I can actually 100% games without putting in like years of my life to do so, lol. We’ll see if I play anymore before an expansion comes out, or if I get caught up doing other things. As soon as the servers come back online, I’m going to give this Star Wars The Old Republic a try… I’m hoping I don’t like it tooooo much, I don’t want to miss Christmas!

Remember that it’s really easy to get to Moonglade during the Lunar Festival, just complete the quest called Lunar Fireworks in any Capital City  except Stormwind, and then use the Lunar Festival Invitation you get from the quest in the circle of light near the quest giver.

For the Festival Finery achievement, visit Valadar Starsong in Moonglade and purchase any of the Festive Dress or Pant Suits for 5 coins.

For the Frenzied Firecracker achievement, visit any Festival Vendor and purchase 10 Festival Firecrackers. Then, fire off all 10 in 30 seconds (putting them on your action bar helps).

For the Rocket’s Red Glare achievement, visit any Festival Vendor and purchase 10 Red Rocket Clusters. Throw all 10 into the nearby Cluster Launchers by right clicking the Red Rocket Clusters in your inventory in 25 seconds or less.

Finally, pick up the quest to kill Omen from Valadar Starsong in Moonglade (you must be at least level 40 to do so). Then join a raid to kill him, or simply stand on his corpse as soon as he dies to complete the quest, then turn it in for the achievement.

A couple of the issues you could run into are that first of all, there is no more Park in Stormwind so if you pick up a quest that sends you to the park, just abandon it and head outside of the Stormwind gates where this year’s Lunar Festival is set up. Second, if you cannot find Rumblerock the Elder in Burning Steppes he may be in a different phase if you’re still questing through that zone. He’ll show up again once you complete the quest, The Spoils of War.

Thank you for reading and may many Coins of Ancestry jingle in your pockets!

My Favorite Niche Gold Strategy

Monday, September 27th, 2010

I couldn’t think of a good niche gold making strategy that was worth posting about when I first read the topic for Markco’s October Gold Blogging Carnival, but then I remembered the “Love Is In The Air” events from earlier this year! I had just come back to WoW after a 6 month break and was starting out on a new server. I had already finished the Love Is In The Air achievements on my main character the year before, but was still interested in figuring out the changes they had made to how the event worked for this year. I noticed that it had become similar to a few of the other world events in the way that you collect and turn in event specific items for prizes, like with Brewfest Coins and Lunar Festival Coins.

Originally my plan was to just see how much of the holiday achievements I could complete while just going about leveling my brand new Blood Elf Mage who was only level 20. I noticed that the Lovely Charms that had a chance of dropping off almost any mobs were BoP items, but the Lovely Charm Bracelets you created out of 10 of them were not. The only thing you needed to collect the charms was a Lovely Charm Collector’s Kit, which was given out for free in any of the major cites after accepting the holiday quest to make a Charm Bracelet for your race leader. At first I thought these Charm Bracelets were just vanity items that were also a daily turn in for one quest, but then I noticed that you could trade them in for Love Tokens.

About 100 Love Tokens are required to complete the holiday achievement, and suddenly my focus changed from leveling my new character and maybe getting some achievement points along the way, to making gold on my new server from the event! I took advantage of the buff perfumes and colognes that were purchasable from the holiday vendors by buying a few stacks and sending one to my new level 1 rogue. I ran her to Silvermoon City, accepted the quest “A Gift For The Regent Lord of Quel’Thalas“, which provided me with the Lovely Charm Collector’s Kit, put on some “VICTORY” Perfume (+75 Attack Power), and hearthed back to the starting zone. I then went crazy killing every Mana Wyrm I could target as fast as I possibly could. I did this because the Lovely Charms only dropped off mobs which yielded experience, and I figured I could kill way more level 1 mobs in an hour with a buffed up baby rogue than I could kill higher level mobs with my level 20 main. I would level my rogue from 1 to 6 on the Mana Wyrms, which would get me between 11 and 13 Lovely Charm Bracelets. I would then run to the mailbox in Farstrider Square and send the bracelets to my main. The whole process took about 30 minutes, then I would delete my level 6 rogue, make a new level 1 rogue, and do it all over again. I would then sell the bracelets in the Auction House for about 25g a piece.

Near the end of the Holiday the amount of  Lovely Charm Bracelets in the Auction House had increased and the demand for them dropped off, but I had managed to accumulate 10,000g in only a few days on a server I hadn’t even been playing on for 2 weeks yet. Without a doubt the Lovely Charm Bracelets are my choice for favorite niche market item, and I can’t wait to take advantage of this Holiday again next year!

To Do List – Before Cataclysm Launches

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

I have decided I should attempt to get some things finished up before Cataclysm is released (likely this fall). I have been playing on the horde for about a year now, but my true main is an alliance paladin. The following are the things I believe I should accomplish before cataclysm:

  1. Save enough emblems on the alliance/horde to get my worgen and goblin some heirlooms
  2. Save up at least 10k gold on each of my server
  3. Finish all of the old dungeons and get the achievements on my alliance pally
  4. Get max unarmed as it will likely be a feat of strength on my pally
  5. Sell things that are overpriced now and will be almost worthless in Cataclysm
  6. Save up mats for the profession I chose for my Goblin/Worgen
  7. Save the names for my Goblin/Worgen
  8. Attempt to finish up the Loremaster Achievement on my pally
  9. Farm a few of the pets which may become unavailable or harder to get in Cata
  10. Take screenshots of all my favorite zones which will be changed by Cata

If you can think of anything else that might be useful or fun to do before the whole World of Warcraft changes, please leave me a comment and let me know!

Thanx!
